The black sand of Kalliste,
where 3,250 years ago a massive volcanic eruption shattered Minoan society, unfortunately one of the last in the area not to glorify violence.
Riane Eisler aptly calls the three millennia since the "Dominator Detour." 
Mediterranean Bronze Age culture still shines in artifacts such as frescoes and jewelry, in traditions of circle dance and music, and perhaps was the source of much innovation usually attributed to more familiar successors.
